One-Year MSN Program

Rockhurst University’s online Master of Science in Nursing-Leadership (MSN-Leadership) degree program prepares nurses to achieve new professional heights as transformative leaders in a variety of clinical and organizational leadership roles. Our online MSN-Leadership program will empower you to:

ONLINE MSN IN LEADERSHIP SAMPLE CURRICULUM

This course is an introduction to the theoretical foundations of advanced practice nursing. Key content to be covered includes the philosophical basis of science and knowledge within the structure, development, and application of theory in advanced practice nursing. Theoretical frameworks addressing the biopsychosocial and spiritual aspects of the human condition related to the individual, family, community, and systems are explored. In addition, students will investigate various learning theories as they pertain to individuals across the lifespan. The student will have the opportunity to identify a theory to guide their research. (3 credits)

The MSN-Leadership program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Rockhurst University and Saint Luke’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

You will learn from active clinicians who bring real-world experience into the online classroom. As trusted Rockhurst faculty members, they are committed to your success as an advanced practice nurse.

The Online MSN-Leadership program is offered on a full-time and part-time basis. The full-time track takes 4 semesters to complete (1 year and 3 months), while the part-time track takes 6 semesters (2 years) to complete.

The Online MSN-Leadership program requires 36 credits of online coursework and 200 practicum hours in the form of a leadership project to graduate.

The Online MSN-Leadership program costs $795 per credit hour, for a total program investment of $28,620 (plus fees). Financial aid may be available to our online students.

MSN-LEADERSHIP PRACTICUM

In the practicum component of the MSN-Leadership degree, students select a nursing chair and identify a practicum site, assess the organization, and develop and implement an evidence-based change project. The project culminates in a final paper and a professional presentation of the change project, including the process and outcomes.

Faculty Spotlight

Dr. Caroline Olawaiye has been with Saint Luke's College of Nursing as a faculty member teaching in the Traditional BSN and RN-BSN programs since 2013. As an educator, her goal has been to support faculty, staff, and students by ensuring they have the knowledge base, information, skills, and resources to meet their objectives.

Her focus as the BSN Program Director has been promoting the college's core values, faculty professional development, undergraduate student and faculty instructional and assessment resources, student learning support systems, and effective student learning outcomes.

She adheres to Rockhurst University's core value, Cura Personalis - "Care for the whole person," which aligns with her values and purpose in action philosophy. "I find that those I work with go above and beyond in their commitment to care for each other, the students, and the community."
