Dr. Brand is an assistant professor of education and the director of the Ed.D. program at Rockhurst University.

She is a native Nebraskan with degrees in psychology, elementary education, and middle level education. Her PhD is in Education Studies and Qualitative Analysis.

She taught middle school in a suburb of Omaha for 26 years before taking early retirement in 2022. As an adjunct professor, she taught graduate programs at Peru State College and College of St Mary for nearly twenty years, co-taught qualitative methods at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, and also taught at Midland University. She moved to Kansas City in 2022 to be closer to her grown sons and their families and have since found her academic home here at Rockhurst.

Her research interests include creating a better doctoral program experience for our students, and also promoting voices for meaningful change to systemic racism.
